Why power flush?

Find out why you should consider a power flush.

Power flushing is a highly beneficial process that will improve energy efficiency, prolong system life and save you money on bills.

During the life of your commercial or residential central heating system, oxidation occurs. This oxidation results in a build-up of a black oxidative and other deposits commonly called 'sludge' within the central heating systems pipes and radiators. This sludge has a detrimental effect on the circulation of hot water through the system, this problem can culminate in blockages in your heating system. Not only does this prevent radiators from distributing heat effectively but can also cause damage to radiators, valves and pumps which results in expensive repair bills.

Having your heating system power flushed can help keep you warm during the winter, reduce your fuel bills and avoid a total system failure. But what are the symptoms of a system that has become clogged and requires power flushing? Below are the main symptoms that occur when a system has a high concentration of 'sludge' and would benefit from a power flush.

step1

Little to No Hot Water

If your taps output little or no hot water, it is most likely due to blockages in the pipes, resulting from a build-up of 'sludge' and the poor functioning of a heat exchanger.

step3

Noisy or Loud Boiler

The build-up of 'sludge' & limescale can cause boilers to operate loudly & even cut out. If this is not rectified the results could include a costly repair or even a replacement boiler.

step5

Radiators Cold at Bottom

If your radiators are colder at the bottom than the top this is due to the build-up of 'sludge' at the bottom of the radiators, if these are not power flushed then the system has to work harder.

step2

Dirty or Brown Water

If radiators output black or brown water during bleeding this is a sign that the central heating system has begun to corrode and distribute 'sludge' around your system.

step4

Sludge Build-Ups

As your system corrodes over time 'sludge' collects at the bottom of your radiators, a power flush will remove this 'sludge' build up from the system, making it more efficient.

step6

Radiators Cold at Top

If radiators are cold at the top, this is due to a build-up of hydrogen gas (internal system rusting). This can be rectified by bleeding the radiators and a power flush to reduce rusting.
